Gentrification? What Gentrification?

Stuyvesant Town - GarbageFeeling the heat from some tenants who feel the neighborhood is becoming overly gentrified, Stuy Town and Tish-Spy fought back over the weekend by covering First Avenue with rotten garbage and debrise.

“We want to show the community that we still have edge,” said a senior level manager who wished to remain anonymous. “Besides, we’ll just jack the rents for the new tenants to pay for the clean up, they are expecting it anyway.”

The large retail space located on First Avenue and 15th Street has sat empty for years because local businesses can’t afford the ridiculous price Stuy Town is asking. To fill the financial void Stuy Town is moving their management office to the location where they can proudly display their smug, twenty-something year old staff.

Stuy Town proves again that hipster dives don’t have to be dank, dilapidated holes-in-the-wall anymore! Mashed up dance beats break the sound barrier in overcrowded apartments, while down on First Avenue, girls in Karen Millen open-toed heels and guys in skinny Paul Smith cardigans navigate piles of garbage in front of their buildings after having had a few too many mojitos at the Belmont Lounge. OK, so maybe they're a little lit, but these uniformly-tattooed, college-age residents couldn't care less! It's Friday nite - no one's has to make it to class on time tomorrow!

I am sorry, but how could they throw a beautiful picture of Danny Aiello onto a pile of garbage in the street like that?! I am sorry that someone in TS management or whoever has treated his image so terribly. I took it right back to my apartment with me and fixed it up, and now it's hanging in a place of honor in my living room, right next to my autographed picture of Marv Albert!
